Specialist Waterproofing

Comprehensive Waterproofing Solutions for New and Existing Concrete — Engineered to Stop Leaks, Protect Assets, and Comply with NZBC.

Specialist waterproofing for basements, planters, tanks, and critical joints using industry-leading systems. We solve complex leaks and protect concrete structures with compliant, long-lasting solutions.

Most waterproofing in New Zealand is designed for new builds and easy access – stick a membrane on the outside and hope for the best. The real challenge starts when that membrane fails, access is gone, the structure is live, and you’re dealing with leaks, moisture and damage from the inside.

PCR’s Specialist Waterproofing service is built for exactly those situations.

We focus on concrete waterproofing and moisture control from the “hard side” – inside tanks, basements, lift pits, podium slabs and industrial floors – where digging up or re-membraning isn’t realistic or economical.

Our approach typically combines:

  • Negative-side waterproofing systems
Cementitious/mineral waterproofing such as KÖSTER NB1 Grey, used with primers and repair mortars to waterproof concrete from the inside. Ideal for tanks, treatment plants, reservoirs, retaining walls and basements where external access is limited or impossible.
  • Injection-based waterproofing
Stopping active leaks with polyurethane injections (flexible, water-cutting foams and gels) and acrylic gel or curtain injection where water is tracking behind walls or through complex details. We target the leak path, not just the visible damp patch.
  • Slab moisture & flooring failures
Moisture coming through a slab can destroy coatings, soft flooring and warehouse operations. We use moisture control systems such as epoxy vapour barriers and sand-broadcast finishes to create a reliable base for new coatings and coverings.
  • Detail waterproofing & joint sealing
Lift pits, penetrations, movement joints and cold joints are common weak points. We design and install joint details, waterstops, sealants and compatible coatings to bring these areas back under control.
  • Drossbach grouting & precision grouting
Poorly filled ducts, tie holes and voids can become hidden leak paths. We use Drossbach and anchor grouting as part of a complete waterproofing strategy to close off these routes properly.
  • Screeds & substrate preparation
Forming falls, levelling and preparing substrates to support waterproofing systems and moisture barriers — particularly in basements, podiums, balconies, and wet areas where drainage, adhesion and durability are critical.

The difference with PCR is that we don’t just “cover over” the problem. Because we sit across remediation, waterproofing and restoration, we look at:

  • Why the original system failed
  • How water and moisture are actually moving through the structure
  • What is realistic to access and maintain
  • How the solution will behave over the next 10–20 years

We’re used to working in live plants, car parks, basements and critical infrastructure where downtime is expensive and safety is non-negotiable. Our ISO-certified systems mean every waterproofing project is backed by method statements, QA records, product traceability and photographic evidence.

If you’re dealing with leaks, damp slabs, failed membranes or “we’ve tried everything” situations, PCR’s Specialist Waterproofing team is set up to come in, diagnose the problem and design a solution using the full toolbox – negative-side systems, injections, moisture barriers, joints and grouts and screed – not just another layer of membrane.
