Scope of Work
PCR was engaged to restore a deteriorated concrete water channel at the Huia Filter Station. The assets exhibited cracking, active water ingress, and reinforcement corrosion, requiring a comprehensive remediation approach to ensure long-term durability and performance.
Our Solution
- Repairs (Sika) – Concrete patching, re-profiling, and joint arris reinstatement to restore surface integrity.
- Corrosion Repairs (Sika) – Breakout of contaminated concrete, reinforcement treatment, and reinstatement using Sika structural mortars.
- Cathodic Protection (Sika) – Targeted cathodic protection installed in high-risk zones to arrest corrosion and protect steel reinforcement.
- Polyurethane Injection (KÖSTER) – Pressure injection of cracks and joints with KÖSTER PU resins to eliminate active leaks and restore watertightness.
- Negative Waterproofing (KÖSTER) – Application of KÖSTER NB1 Grey to tank and water channel surfaces, providing a durable negative-side waterproofing barrier where external access was not possible.
Outcome
PCR successfully delivered a robust, future-proof refurbishment of Watercare’s critical assets. By combining Sika’s structural and corrosion repair technologies with KÖSTER’s waterproofing and injection systems, we restored watertightness, extended service life, and ensured compliance with Watercare’s long-term performance requirements.
