Remediation & Life Extension

We give concrete a second life

We specialise in diagnosing and repairing damaged or deteriorated concrete. From cracks and spalling to full resurfacing, our remediation services extend the life and performance of concrete structures.

Concrete doesn’t fail overnight. It cracks, rusts, leaks and slowly breaks down under load, weather and use. Concrete Remediation & Life Extension is the discipline of stopping that process, restoring performance, and adding years – sometimes decades – to the life of a structure.

PCR specialises in this kind of work. We focus on diagnosing the cause of damage first – corrosion, carbonation, chloride ingress, movement, poor detailing, moisture – and then selecting the right combination of repair mortars, crack injections, corrosion control and protective systems to fix it properly. The goal is always the same: repair once, repair well, and reduce the total cost of ownership over time.

Typical remediation projects include:

  • Spalling, delamination and honeycomb repairs to beams, slabs, columns and façades
  • Crack repairs using epoxy (structural), polyurethane (leaking/flexible) and, where required, acrylic gel injection
  • Breakout and reinstatement of damaged concrete with appropriate structural mortars
  • Concrete jacketing or thickening to restore capacity where the original design has been compromised
  • Localised corrosion control, including sacrificial anodes and integration with wider cathodic protection strategies

Because we sit across remediation, waterproofing and restoration, we’re able to design repairs that consider more than just “filling the hole”. We’re thinking about moisture, durability, aesthetics, future access, and how surrounding details will behave over the next 10–20 years. That’s particularly important in coastal and aggressive New Zealand environments where poor detailing and cheap patching simply don’t last.

Every remediation job is backed by PCR’s ISO-certified systems – from condition assessment and methodology through to QA records, photos and sign-off. We’re used to working alongside engineers, councils and Tier 1 contractors on live sites, keeping operations running while critical concrete is being repaired.

If you have concrete that is cracking, rusting, leaking or simply reaching the end of its original design life, PCR’s Concrete Remediation & Life Extension team can help you decide what to repair, how to repair it, and how to maximise the remaining life of the asset – before replacement becomes the only option.
